One of the tools within Assets is the Asset-Referenced Token Engine (ARTe). This tool enables the fast and compliant creation of:
Asset-Referenced Tokens (ARTs) – Tokens that derive value from real-world assets and comply with MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) regulations.
Index Tokens – Bundled token products that represent a diversified basket of real-world assets.
Structured Investment Baskets – Customizable token sets that enable investors to gain exposure to multiple assets within a single token.
Under MiCA regulations, Asset-Referenced Tokens (ARTs) are a new category of regulated digital assets designed to ensure investor protection and financial stability. ARTs differ from traditional tokens because they must:
Be backed by a reserve of real-world assets.
Adhere to transparent issuance and redemption mechanisms.
Comply with regulatory requirements related to governance, disclosure, and stability.
ARTe automates and streamlines the issuance of ARTs, allowing businesses to quickly launch compliant digital assets that can be integrated into financial markets, DeFi protocols, and institutional investment products.
How it works
The ARTe can be used to create tokens backed by a basket of other tokens. The distribution of the backing tokens is configurable and can consist of any tokens.
Before you can create these tokens, make sure you are connected with a wallet which holds the backing tokens. Once you have ensured this, go to the ARTe page in Assets and click ‘Create ART’. First select your blockchain, upload a token icon, and set your token name and symbol. Then select the backing tokens from the list of available tokens and set the distribution of the tokens below. After this, click ‘Deploy mixer’ and verify the transaction.
After this, your token will appear on the ARTe page. From there, you can click on the token to see its distribution and to mint and burn tokens.
